Fired Clay

In this ceramic series, I sculpted small naked male and female figures—each between 1 to 2 inches tall—using clay fired in a kiln. Painted with the same color palette used throughout the exhibition, these miniature bodies reflect the themes and tones of my broader work. Originally placed on a wooden platform for firing, the figures became permanently fused to the wood during the kiln process. Embracing this unexpected outcome, I chose to varnish the wood and present it as the final canvas, transforming a technical accident into a deliberate, textural element of the piece.
